Should link to: Thematically, the pACS rogram is located between the two profile areas “Immunopathogenesis and Organ Dysfunction” and “Brain and Neurodegeneration”. Thus, it is particularly aimed at researching specialists with a focus on immunology, neuroscience, genetics and epidemiology as well as cardiovascular diseases and oncology.
The grant is provides the physicians with protected time off of 50% of their working hours for research activities over a period of six years. In addition to their clinical activities, they are closely linked to research networks already established in Bonn, such as Collaborative Research Centers and the Cluster of Excellence ImmunoSensation², through coaffiliation with research institutes. This is to ensure a close link between clinical and basic research in the sense of scientific translation. During the funding period, they receive basic material resources. Furthermore, they are offered an extensive accompanying program with mentoring and coaching options.
The aim of the funding is to support the physicians in developing a visibly independent scientific profile. Upon completion of the program, they should be qualified to assume an independent professorship.
