Transposable elements and the evolution of the human brain
Speaker: Johan Jakobsson
Affiliation: Lund University, Sweden
Prof. Johan Jakobsson is the director of the Lund Stem Cell Center and heads the Laboratory of Molecular Neurogenetics at the Wallenberg Neuroscience Center at Lund University. His team is interested in transposable elements, especially how these viral-like sequences influence human brain evolution, neurodegenerative diseases, brain tumors and ageing. Their expertise includes human stem cell cultures, brain organoids, viral vectors, gene editing, cellular reprogramming and bioinformatical analysis of transposons.
